Bret Maverick the Dog needs a home
Please consider that many of these dogs have been abandoned, ignored by their previous owners, or turned in to a shelter, having little interaction with someone who cares about them.
When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life.
Maverick is a handsome 1 1/2 yr old dog who catches the eye of everyone he meets. He was surrendered to FRGSR because he was going after the resident chickens since their pen was right beside the dog pen. He did live with another dog in his last home and he's currently living with three other dogs in his foster home. Introductions were a bit bumpy, but within a couple of days, he and his foster GSD sister Gypsy May started to wrestle and play with each other. He has a moderate energy level and he enjoys a lengthy walk or play session each day. He can be reactive on leash and dog parks and doggy daycares likely won't work for him. Maverick seemed a little stiff on his left side, and we learned after doing X-rays that his hips are fine, but he has issues with his left elbow. His Xrays have been viewed by an orthopedic specialist, but a course of treatment, if any, has not yet been determined. At this point, nothing is urgent, but potential adopters need to consider the potential cost of a future surgery if needed as well as the rehabilitation that may be required for several weeks. It is unknown if surgery will be required at a later date. Maverick would do well in a home with an active handler and a canine companion who loves to play. His adoption fee is $300.
